It is Wedding and Prom Season!

Today, I want to talk about Up-Dos and all of the changes I have seen in terms of fashion for formal hair dos.
As a woman, I think its safe to say that we like to dress up once and a while, and part of dressing up is, of course, getting our hair done up.Since these formal hair-dos (called "Up-Dos") are very elaborate, we get them done on rare and special occasions: think prom, weddings, award shows....
Ever since I started my career doing hair, up-dos have been one of my favorite services to provide. Usually, I am one of the only people, if not the only person, to provide this service at every salon where I have worked. This is because proper Up-Dos are very elaborate and not as common as other services, so not that many hair stylists know how to do them. If you happen to find someone who can do Up-Dos (and is good at them), don't lose track of them. I have heard so many horror stories of bad wedding hair, all of them terrifying. Imagine one of the most special days of your life: full of family, friends, and pictures... and your hair looks awful. Aaaaah!
It used to be that Up-Dos consisted of very placed and perfect hair. That is no longer in style. Women nowadays prefer a more loose and less formal look for their special day. When choosing a hairstyle think about your event:- Is it formal?- Does it have a theme? - Can you get away with a vintage look, or should it be modern?
Checklist for your Up-Do appointment:
1. Make a hair trial appointment (before the day of the event), just to make sure you and the hairdresser are on the same track.
2. Bring pictures or magazine clippings to your appointment.
3. Make sure you also bring in any accessories you might want to wear.
4. Don't wash your hair the day of the trial or event, hair cooperates better when it is not fly-away and has a little oil in it.
5. Wear a button down shirt or a shirt with a big enough collar that you can take it off without ruining your hair.
6. If it is the day of your trial, take pictures of your hair with your dress.

Remember: just because it's called "formal" hair, doesn't mean it can't be fun!

Are you ready for the Ombre?

So, our hair survived the winter and the dry and itchy scalp (and maybe some embarrassing situations)...Yay!

The sun is out, so it is time to re-think hair color for the spring time. The Ombre fad also survived the winter and it is more popular then ever, so if you have been thinking about getting this trendy look, go for it!

Why it is easy to wear:
- The roots are darker, so you don't have to worry about rushing to the hairdresser for a re-touch.
- Since the top is darker, it often looks more flattering if you are originally a brunette.

Here are just two examples of many of the possibilities:

So, if you are feeling bold, or just ready for something fun, try this great look!If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
